to The Press-Enterprise
Downtown
Riverside
is going to get loud for a great cause.
The 13th Annual Show and Go Car Show for Charity is back with 1,000 engines
revved up and ready to show off next weekend.
Hosted by the Riverside East Rotary Club, the three-day event is jam-packed with
giveaways, contests, product and food vendors, and cruising by classic vehicles.
The event is free and open to the public.
"This is an incredible art and car show," said Cynthia DeSoto,
Riverside East Rotary Club president. "The amount of time, investment, and
participation generates a huge outcome. All profits go towards the city of
Riverside
. It generates money, it stimulates the economy, and it enhances the quality of
life."
Kicking off at 6 p.m. April 29, classic cars, motorcycles, imports and hot rods
will cruise down Market and
Main
streets between
14th Street
and
Mission Inn Avenue
.
Ken Asche's flame-throwing car will highlight this year's show, and, throughout
the event, Rusty Wallace's Nascar Stock Car will be on exhibit.

.
April 30 will start off with a $5 pancake breakfast at 6 a.m., provided by the
Magnolia Center Rotary Club. The rest of the day will have plenty of
festivities, including a parade and contests.
Sunday will commence with more cruising and service, food, and product vendors
for spectators. An awards ceremony and giveaways, including a drawing for a 383
Stroker Engine or $2,000 cash, will bring the show to an end.

.
"This event is a vital part of our city. The profits do not go to just one
segment of our city; we try to enhance all parts of
Riverside
. It's sensational," DeSoto said.
The charity show was started and produced by the Old Farts
Racing Team. Since it began, it has raised more than $200,000, donated to
charity by the Riverside East Rotary Club.
Show and Go Car Show receives an abundant amount of sponsorships
each year. This year's main title sponsor is K&N Filters. Other major
sponsors include Bud's Tire and Wheel,
Wayne
's Engine Rebuilders and Auto Parts, NAPA Auto and Truck Parts, and AAA Auto
Club.
"It brings a lot of noise for three days, and people have
had complaints about this. However, when they read about it and the wonderful
benefits the show produces, it tends to make hearts tender and even want to be a
part of it," DeSoto said.

A message from 2010-2011 Riverside East Rotary Club
President, Tim Williams
Dear Visitors,
On behalf of the Riverside East Rotary Club we welcome you. I have had the
privilege of working the Show and Go Car Show for Charity since its inception
and witnessed the coming of what is now considered the largest car show in the
County of Riverside. Many participants and attendees alike say it's the BEST CAR
SHOW in the INLAND EMPIRE; initially started with 300 vehicles and now limited
to 1000. At one time car enthusiasts lined up at the Riverside Airport for our
1/8 mile drag race, which was an exciting part of the three day show. It has
certainly been a playground and showcase for Automotive Restoration ART
enthusiasts of classic cars.
The event not only appeases the eye of car show enthusiasts, but its outcome
also impacts the community in which we live. Sponsors, Participants, and
Volunteers for Show and Go Car Show for Charity are responsible for the
compassionate acts that enable us to provide for those less fortunate. Show and
Go Car Show for Charity dollars have enhanced the lives of many by funding
direct needs and those that are brought to us by non-governmental agencies
providing social services. We first and foremost strive to meet the needs of
children and families. In addition, we serve the needs of seniors, and veterans.
Our continued goal is to enrich our community by supporting sustainable programs
in the areas of literacy and education, health and wellness, and economic and
community development.
Please keep Riverside East Rotary Club in your directory as a resource to
“Build a Better Community” and Rotary International in “Bridging
Continents” for the betterment of all. (Visit us at

We thank you for your generous support and hope to secure those of you who are
visiting for the first time. Enjoy the Show!
With deep gratitude,
Tim Williams
